Twitter Art Exhibit 2017

April 10, 2017

"...Through Art we can change the world..."

I just wanted to let you all know a little bit about this fantastically awesome Charity event 'Twitter Art Exhibit' that I have been involved in (in a tiny way...) for the past couple of years.

Twitter Art Exhibit (#TAE) was set up by the awesome artist David Sandum in 2010, with the idea that artists from around the world could donate a postcard size piece of original artwork to #TAE to be sold to raise funds for a chosen charity / non-profit organisation.

In the past, #TAE has generated funds for a library suffering from deep funding cuts to purchase much-needed children’s books, for an abused women’s shelter seeking to improve the lives of the families they serve, and for an art's organisation mentoring underprivileged young adults in preparation for careers in the visual arts.

#TAE organises a local, physical showcasing of the art and the public are invited to buy the art at an affordable, flat price with 100% of proceeds going to the charity! Now that's pretty, flippin awesome? ONE-HUNDRED-PER-CENT!!!!

This year #TAE had 1300 artist's register from over 60 countries (I was one of those😜 !)

#TAE's chosen charity for 2017 was the wonderful Molly Olly’s Wishes, who support children with terminal or serious illness and their families.

So here comes the really exciting bit (well exciting for me anyway!) #TAE is hosted in a different country every year, it was in New York last year but this year it was IN THE UK!!!! Yay!

"...#TAE17 hosted in Stratford-upon-Avon..."

As it was hosted in the UK this year, I obviously had to go right?

My Dotty Dog Art #TAE17 donation

So I was beyond excited to be attending such an awe-inspiring event - as you can see by the 'oh-so-composed' and 'not-over-excited-at-all' photo of me next to my donation! (I really need to get out more...)

And to add further to my over-excitedness I'm very proud to say that my donation SOLD before the exhibition even opened!!! Whoop - way to go little choc lab!

Oh and if that wasn't enough for my already raised blood pressure, I had the complete honour of meeting in person and chatting with the amazingly talented artist and founder of #TAE David Sandum too.

"...my little choc lab 'Let's Play' donation SOLD..."

Opening night raised a whopping £8,300 for Molly Olly's which is just so fantastic! And cards are continuing to sell for as long as the exhibition runs... I can't wait to hear the total raised...

So in short, if you are an artist I can't encourage you enough to get involved in this awesome event, I felt very happy to be an exhibiting artist but as it turn's out I came away with 3 stunning pieces of original art too - Art for a cause is the best kind of art!

And if you love art of all descriptions, styles and media's then there isn't a better place to buy art while raising funds for charity... it's a win-win party!!!
