"do you really paint all the dots by hand?"
People often ask me 'how exactly do you paint a Dotty portrait?' 'where do you start?' and 'do you really paint all the dots by hand?'... Well I'm here to answer these questions for you in the form of a series of work-in-progress photos (and yes I do paint every dot by hand with a teeny-tiny paint brush!)
It takes many happy hours and multiple sittings to create a Dotty Dog Art portrait, but thanks to the magic of a series of snap shots I can show you how it's done in less than 60 seconds.
...watching paint dry is notoriously tiresome...
I never rush a painting. I do this work because I love it so much. But as watching paint dry is a notoriously tiresome activity, I've fast forwarded my painting process so you can see exactly what goes into creating a unique and special Dotty Dog Art Portrait.
With my background qualifications in art and graphic design I merge painting styles with graphic design techniques, I initially build up shapes and dots and then tones to create a portrait that is fresh and original whilst capturing your dog's unique personality.
All my paintings are created using my favourite Winsor & Newton watercolours using my teeny-tiny paint brushes from the amazing UK based company Rosemary & Co Artists Brushes and I use Langton 300 gsm Cold Pressed watercolour paper which I feel lends itself brilliantly to portrait paintings.
Welcome to my world of hand painted dots...
If you would like to see your special dog created in shapes and dots I am always very happy to have a chat... why not pop over to my Commissions Page to see exactly what packages I provide.
Thanks for popping by... wishing you a great dotty day, Kathy x
